Engine change in the bush.

Not all problems occur at or near a maintenance facility. When servicing bush planes you need to be creative and adaptable. This engine change took place on a lakeshore north of Bissett where a succesful landing occured after the aircraft encountered engine problems. Fortunately, when flying float planes in this country, a safe landing place is no farther than the next lake. Trees were cut to make a tripod to remove the old engine and install a new one that was flown in on another DHC-3 Otter aircraft. The aircraft then took off out of the lake with a new engine, ready to continue hauling passengers and freight across the north.
